Founded by a diverse group of New Brunswick community leaders, residents and organizations that represent: neighborhoods, civil rights advocates, labor union members, Latinos, African Americans, students, parents, church members and tax payer advocates, the Coalition for Democracy is committed to creating a ward-based City Council in New Brunswick to improve the lives of the city residents. Our coalition welcomes all people and all communities, bringing together neighbors committed to positive change so that our neighborhoods can achieve their maximum potential.
We believe electing a ward-based City Council will increase accountability of elected officials and build a stronger voice for New Brunswick's diverse communities. Wards will increase investment in New Brunswick's neglected communities who have not benefited from the revitalization of the downtown. Most important, wards will give every neighborhood accessible and accountable representation on the Council. |
